Editorial calendar: a month of content in 2 hours
Monday morning. The owner opens Instagram and realizes nothing is scheduled for the week. They improvise a post, publish it without strategic copy, forget the stories and promise to "get organized tomorrow". Tomorrow never comes. This cycle repeats every week in thousands of businesses.
The solution is not to hire more people or buy more tools. The solution is to have an editorial calendar that works.
What is an editorial calendar?
It is the monthly plan for all the content that will be published: what to post, when to post, in which format and with what objective. When the calendar is ready, daily execution becomes operational: just follow the plan.
Step 1: define your content pillars (15 min)
Every business has 3 to 5 core themes it needs to communicate. At Consali, for example, our pillars are: commercial management, strategic marketing, financial management, team leadership and the C.L.A.R.O. + T.A.C. method. Define yours and write them down. Every piece of content in the month revolves around these pillars.
Step 2: distribute formats by day (20 min)
Each day of the week can have a fixed format. A practical example:
- Monday: educational carousel (pillar 1)
- Tuesday: stories with a question box
- Wednesday: reel with a quick tip (pillar 2)
- Thursday: behind-the-scenes post or customer testimonial
- Friday: carousel or static post (pillar 3)
With this fixed grid, you never again need to decide "what should I post today". The format is already defined.
Step 3: write the month's topics (45 min)
With the pillars and the format grid defined, it is time to fill the calendar. For each day, write a sentence that summarizes the post's theme. It does not need to be the final caption, just the core theme.
Step 4: write the captions and define the CTAs (40 min)
With the topics ready, write the captions following the rule: an attention hook in the first line, the development of the theme in the middle, a CTA (call to action) at the end. Each post needs a clear objective: to engage, educate, convert or humanize.
The editorial calendar is the foundation of everything
With the calendar ready, producing graphics, recording videos and scheduling become much faster. The team knows what to do, the manager knows what to hold them accountable for and the owner stops improvising.
In the Consali integrated management system, the editorial calendar is a marketing management tool: it only works when it is connected to the positioning, the indicators and the commercial strategy of the business.
